Earth Day 2019 Student Art Show

Kids have a certain bluntness we adults tend to shy away from when is comes to talking about such uncomfortable things as our environment and what future awaits us. Each year, this show is incredibly impactful and this year is no different. These kids are growing up in an era of significant environmental awareness, and they expressed their thoughts pointedly in this collection.

National Indigenous Peoples Day Fundraiser & Art Show

We've wanted to mark NIPD at Bandidas for many years, but have struggled with how best to execute an event. As white business owners, we’ve often felt unsure of how to be effective allies, and the desire to do things perfectly can often keep us from acting.

Earth Day 2018 Student Art Show

Alongside our Earth Day Fundraiser (April 22nd), we've hung over 200 pieces of student art work. When taking action on Earth Day, it's important to us to consider youth voices. We are stoked to present this art show from our very own Bandidas family. We've had staff artists show their work before, but never in a multi-artist show. Eight of our beloved staff are exhibiting their art at Bandidas until March 7th. Scroll through to see a glimpse of their work, and come by the restaurant to claim a piece for yourself.

Capetownape (New Art at Bandidas)

The Earth Day fundraiser was a huge success, and we adored having some colourful East Van student art on our walls for a few weeks. As is usual at the time of the art swap, the restaurant has undergone a bit of a transformation with the hanging of Daniel G. Poggenpoel’s (aka Capetownape) work.

Student Art Show for Earth Day

We’ve launched a student art show alongside our fundraiser for RAVEN Trust’s Pull Together campaign. The works comes from three East Van classrooms whom we connected with after our Fireweed fundraiser and art show on Inauguration Day. The classes visited Bandidas to study art and its role in democracy, and returned to the classrooms to create their own works of response to the election results.
